i looooove this woman's work.
and i don't usually like new media type stuff.
but for some reason i am drawn to this particular piece, called...
to breathe/ respirate.
it's kind of meditational.
and therapeutic.
and hypnotizing.
along with this piece she has many other videos,
here's some info i found on her at her site
kimsooja.com
born in teuga korea.
currently lives and is working in NewYork
between 1980 and 1984 she was a Graduate Painting Major of Hong-IK University Graduate school, Seoul
between 1984 and 1985 she was at the Lithography studi at Ecole Natianl Superieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris, France
then from 1992-1993 she was an artist in residence at P.S.1 Museum in NewYork
and between 1998 and 1999 she was a World Views artist in residence at the World Trade Center in New York.
her work in mesmerizing and inspiring.
i like what she does because it is so far away from my own work in so many ways, yet we do have some similarities.
her use of color is very strong, as is my own. and this is another reason i connect with her.
